ABSTRACT
The bone scan is still an important imaging tool for evaluating benign and malignant bone lesions despite the advances in anatomical imaging methods. On the other hand, its relatively poor specificity makes it necessary to correlate scintigraphic findings with radiological methods. The functional data from scintigraphy and the structural information from computed tomography are combined in integrated single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) devices. Its diagnostic performance is higher than that of either alone. Herein, we briefly discussed the value of SPECT/CT in evaluating benign and malignant bone disorders.
