ABSTRACT

Targeted radionuclide treatments with alpha particle emitting isotopes have physical and radiobiological advantages over those with beta particles. Because of these advantages, alpha radionuclide treatments have found a developing research area. In this review, besides the physical properties of alpha particles, some radiobiological properties were examined, and the concept of relative biological effectiveness was emphasized.

Keywords:
Alpha radionuclide therapies, radiobiology, linear energy transfer, relative biological effectiveness
